| DTS Digital Surround |
5.1 channels of discrete digital audio. |
standart DTS |
| DTS-ES |
6.1 channels - DTS Extended Surround.
DTS 6.1 Matrix and DTS 6.1 Discrete decoding.
"ES" is the general term for DTS tracks with a center surround channel,
and "ES 6.1 discrete" is the particular case where the center surround
channel is discrete.
|
DTS-ES is also fully backwards-compatible with DTS decoders that
are not Extended Surround equipped.
The center surround channel is always matrixed into the LS and RS channels.
A discrete center surround channel can optionally be encoded.
On 5.1 center surround will be heard in and between the LS and RS speakers,
because the center surround channel information is matrixed into
the LS and RS channels.
|
| DTS Neo:6 |
Provides up to six channels of matrix decoding from
stereo matrix material. |
- Stereo matrix to 6.1 or 5.1 from stereo matrix material.

- Music mode - expands stereo non-matrix recordings into 5.1 or 6.1
