MLdonkey

MLdonkey is a multi-platform multi-networks peer-to-peer client. Originally, it was the first open-source client to access the eDonkey network.

Currently, with eDonkey , it supports several large networks, such as Overnet , Bittorrent , Gnutella (Bearshare, Limewire, etc), Gnutella2 (Shareaza), Fasttrack (Kazaa, Imesh, Grobster), Soulseek (beta), Direct-Connect (alpha), and Opennap (alpha).

FAQ

Q: Why can't I connect to Overnet?

A: You've become disconnected so you will need to bootstrap into the network. The easiest way of doing this is to close eDonkey and download one of the following contact.dat files into your eDonkey directory. Then restart eDonkey and you should be able to connect: If that does not work you can try going to the #overnet channel on irc.liquidirc.com and typing !boot which will send you a list of nodes to boot off of.

Definitions:

eDonkey - server based p2p developed by MetaMachine which now connects to the Overnet network which is serverless.
eMule - server based p2p based on eDonkey but development is opensource.
Hybrid - See eDonkey.
Overnet - serverless p2p developed by MetaMachine to overcome eDonkey's scalability problems.
